Dengue outbreak: Emergency declared in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Jun 23: A state of national emergency has been declared in Honduras over dengue outbreak.

10 deaths due to dengue and over 11,000 infections have been reported so far across the country.

Prensa Latina reported that in an emergy cabinet meeting, establishment of an inter-institutional commission was finalised.

Coordinated by the health secretariat, the commission will develop a plan to combat the epidemic.

The commission will also work together with other agencies such as the Permanent Contingency Commission and the National System for Risk Management.

Elimination of the breeding places of Aedes Aegypti, the mosquito which transmits dengue, will be high on the agenda.
