Former Haryana IG Ahlawat gets interim bail

Chandigarh, Jun 22: MS Ahlawat, the former Haryana IG who was involved in a molestation of Yamunanagar-based woman lawyer, was granted interim anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday, Jun 22. The alleged molestation happened eight years ago.

Ahlawat has been missing since Jun 16, after his anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by a Yamunanagar court. After the dismissal of his plea, Haryana police had issued search notices and alerted airports against him to prevent him from fleeing out of the country.

Police was searching for him in Delhi, UP and Haryana but failed to trace him.

Ahlawat was recently booked by Yamunanagar police under sections 354 (criminal force on woman with intent to outrage modesty), 323 (assault with intent to voluntarily cause hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The victim in the case alleged him that he had insisted on meeting her in the camp office and allegedly tried to establish illicit relationship with her.
