Hindus urge global media organizations and schools to train staff/pupils in world religions
Nevada (US), (ANI): Hindus have urged media organizations of the world to train their staff on the basics of major world religions and denominations so that media persons could have a better grasp of "other" religions.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that both religion and media were very powerful forces in human society. As we wanted to triumph over caricatures, stereotypes, and prejudices passed down to us from previous generations, who could better help us out than the media.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that journalism schools around the globe should also make study of world religions an essential component of their respective programs.
Rajan Zed argued that religion was an intricate element of our lives and we realized that it comprised of quite more than our own practice/experience. Broader and more inclusive understanding of religion was needed.
We must take religion seriously and learn to live together in mutual trust and peace despite our varied traditions and practices. In our shared pursuit for the truth, we could learn from each other and come out richer, Zed added.
Rajan Zed pointed out that if media organizations and journalism schools around the world needed help in this regard, Hindu scholars would gladly provide.(ANI)
