Airline casts man out for being ‘too fat’
London, Jun 21: A US man weighing 181 kg was denied his journey to see his dying aunt, by the aviation officials as he was too fat.
Sandy Russell who boarded an Air Transat plane from Gatwick airport in London to travel to Toronto, was escorted off by a stewardess on Saturday, Jun 19. He was later told to pay for two full-price tickets if he wanted to fly.
He was denied the permission to travel as his 52-inch belly was overflowing into the next seat.
The 32-year-old man said that he was going to see his aunt who died two days before due to bowel cancer. He also informed them that he could not afford the charge of 928 pounds. But the flight officials were not ready to give him the permission to fly. “I was absolutely devastated," Sandy said.
