Ahmed Patel cancels alliance with JD(U)
New Delhi, Jun 20: Ahmed Patel, the senior Congress leader and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's political secretary canceled the alliance with Janata Dal (United) in Bihar even if it snaps its ties with BJP on Saturday, Jun 19.
"No way; we're going it alone in Bihar," said Ahmed Patel.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had returned a Rs 5 crore Bihar got from Gujarat government for the Kosi flood victims, on Saturday, Jun 19. Ahmed Patel's statement came though the return of money was seen as the first sign of a rupture in the JD(U)-BJP alliance in poll-bound Bihar.
Ahmed Patel had told Sonia Gandhi criticising Nitish Kumar that he should have thought before returning the fund, as the money does not belong to any leader. It was the money given by people of Gujarat to people of Bihar, Patel had said. He also criticized Narendra Modi that he should not have instigated Kumar by giving advertisements in Bihar.
