Prithvi-II test-fired successfully in Orissa
Chandipur (Orissa), June 18 (ANI): India on Friday successfully test-fired the nuclear-capable Prithvi-II ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur on sea in Orissa.
The missile mounted on a mobile launcher took off from Launch Complex-3 in the ITR at around 6:50 a.m.
The test firing of the missile was a user's trial by the Army's Specialised Group Strategic Force Command (SFC).
The Prithvi -II has a strike range of 350 km and a two stage engine. It is nine metres long and a metre wide and can carry a payload of 500 kilograms.
The Prithvi -II has already been inducted into Indian armed forces. (ANI)
