US declares humanitarian aid to Kyrgyz Republic

Washington, Jun 17: United States declared an immediate humanitarian aid of $ 32.26 million to Kyrgyztan for the reconstruction and community-stabilization efforts.

The humanitarian aid will provide assistance to displaced and returning families in the violence hit region of Southern Kyrgyz Republic, informed the US State Department on Wednesday, Jun 16.

The State Department also expressed deep concern over the current situation, adding that it is closely monitoring developments in the region and the affected border regions of Uzbekistan. It said that US will support the international efforts to facilitate peace and order, for United Nations and other international organizations.

United States would begin deliveries of medical and other supplied donated by US corporations and charities to the Kyrgyz Republic, as soon as the security situation allows. "The administration would shortly seek Congressional approval for a project to engage civil society, law enforcement and the business community in addressing factors negatively affecting stability in southern Kyrgyz Republic," informed the State Department.
