Rains in China; 42 dead, 36 missing
Beijing, Jun 17: Heavy rains and landslides claimed around 42 lives in China. Heavy downpour accompanied by lightning storms and gusty winds wreaked havoc across Beijing, the Chinese capital on Thursday, Jun 17. 36 went missing in the flash floods and hundreds have been injured.
Hundreds of flights in and out of the country were either cancelled or delayed due to heavy rains. Local meteorological bureau has issued the third storm alert in 24 hours on Thursday, Jun 17.
Beijing's Capital Airport informed that 96 flights were cancelled and another 299 got delayed due to bad weather.
The summer storms also affected the traffic, resulted with huge jams on Beijing highways.
Southern China have been hit by exuberant floods and landslides since sunday, Jun 13. Weather authorities predicted that the rain will continue for several days.
