Malik blames 'foreign hand' for Karachi sectarian killings
Islamabad, Jun.16 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has blamed 'foreign elements' for the continuous sectarian violence in Karachi, in which over 14 people have killed in the past three days.
Addressing the Senate, Malik said that investigations have revealed that the ongoing target killings in the financial capital was a conspiracy to destabilise the country.
"Investigations have revealed that it is not a Shia-Sunni problem, rather it is a conspiracy to destabilise Pakistan," The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.
"Peace would be ensured and no one would be allowed to take the law into his hands," he added.
Malik reiterated that the government would not hesitate to initiate stern action wherever its writ is challenged.
Meanwhile, the death toll in sectarian violence in Karachi has reached 14 with five more persons being killed, including a police personnel named Zahid.
Unknown assailants fired 11 bullets at Zahid killing him on the spot, media reports said. (ANI)
