UP: Boat capsizes in Ganga, 60 feared dead

New Delhi, Jun 14: In a tragic mishap, as many as 15 people are believed to have died drowing when the boat they were travelling in capsized in river Ganga on Monday, Jun 14.

The boat carrying 70 people over turned at Ballia in eastern Uttar Pradesh. As of afternoon, thirteen bodies were recovered. The death toll is expected to rise with reports indicating that 60 people are feared dead.

The boat had a maximum capacity of carrying 25 people. But the boat was carrying three times its capacity, which could have been the reason for the accident.
