Sikkim cut off from West Bengal due to massive landslide
Sevoke (West Bengal), June 12 (ANI): Sikkim was cut off from West Bengal after landslides blocked National Highway 31 A on Friday.
The landslide occurred at Hatisura under Kurseong police station as rocks and boulders accompanied by mud came down the hills blocking the highway.
Scores of vehicles and tourists were stranded on the both sides of the slide.
"It is a big landslide and it will take three more hours to clear the way. We are facing problems as we don't have food or water. We were not prepared for this," said Dipankar Das, a tourist.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel were engaged in clearing the highway.
Police have intensified patrolling near the spot to prevent any untoward incident. (ANI)
