Moily backs govt, passes Bhopal buck to judiciary
New Delhi, Jun 12: Backing the government on the Bhopal Gas tragedy, Union Law Minister, Veerappa Moily has conveniently passed on the buck to the judiciary over the former CEO of Union Carbide, Warren Anderson's great escape from the law.
“Government did its job, judiciary should be blamed for the delay," Moily said on Saturday, Jun 12.
He also stressed on the need for tougher laws to deal with cases like that of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy as disasters.
"Accident like this must be treated as disaster," he remarked.
He came down heavily upon PC Alexander for blaming Congress for the disaster.
“Alexander was principal secretary when tragedy took place and Congress is in no way responsible for what happened," Moily said.
