Now, insurance cover for Lucknow varsity students

Lucknow, June 11 (ANI): The Lucknow University students will get an insurance cover of 1,00,000 rupees each if they pay a premium of 100 rupees at the time of enrollment.

This insurance programme is expected to benefit 33,000 registered students.

"Keeping in view the incidents, which have taken place inside and outside the campus with the students, in past few years, Dean Student Welfare had come with the proposal of students insurance," said Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Registrar, Lucknow University.

"We have asked for the proposal from the insurance companies. Finance officer is looking into the proposal which are received from different insurance companies," he added.

The insurance programme will take off from July.

Students welcomed the move.

" Hundred percent, we welcome this move and it should be implemented soon from this session only," said Dheeraj, a student.

The insurance proposal would cover hospitalization charges following accidents, and, in case of accidental death, the insurance amount would be given to the student's family. (ANI)
