Maoists torch machinery, vehicles of a road construction firm in Bihar

Gaya (Bihar), June 11 (ANI): Suspected Maoists caused extensive damage to a road construction company at Panchanpur in Bihar's Gaya District

The incident took place just after midnight between June 9 and 10.

The Maoists torched three dumpers and a motorbike besides damaging a generator, a compressor, and a hydraulic motor.

Reportedly the company had refused to oblige the ultras with the extortion money demanded by them and in retaliation, they resorted to arson.

According to eyewitnesses, nearly 20 to 25 armed ultras attacked the site office of Vijendra Construction at Panchanpur and thrashed the labourers whose mobile phones were also snatched before leaving the spot.

"Three dumpers were torched; a generator, a pressure machine, a motorcycle and a hydraulic motor were burnt. The incident took place around 12'o clock. They (Maoist) were around 20 to 25. They were not in uniform but in civilian dress. They had small arms," said Madhusudan Prasad, an eyewitness.

"They caught us by our collars. They slapped us. They locked us in a room and also put me in the room. They snatched our mobile phones. After this we managed to flee from the place," added Munna, another eyewitness.

After the incident, people are living in fear psychosis.(ANI)
