Mandela's great grandchild killed after WC concert
Johannesburg, Jun 11: Amid the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2010 kicking off, the grim news of Nelson Mandela's 13-year-old great-granddaughter being killed in a car crash has emerged from South Africa.
The teenager, Zenani Mandela was killed in an accident while she was on her way home from a concert in Soweto on the eve of the World Cup.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation has confirmed that Zenani was the only one killed in the crash and that no one else was injured in the mishap.
Further details on the car crash are awaited. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has sought privacy as they mourn the tragedy.
Zenani was one among the nine great grand children of the anti-apartheid leader. She turned 13 on Wednesday, Jun 9, just few days before she met her tragic end.
