Goa death case: Ex-Minister's bail rejected

Panaji, Jun 10: A local court has rejected the bail plea of the absconding former Goa tourism minister, Fransisco Pacheco, the main accused in the mysterious death of Nadia Torrado.

The minister stepped down from his post on Saturday, Jun 5 after being interrogated by the crime branch on the death of his 28-year-old female friend, Nadia.

Ever since he resigned, Pacheco has been missing and the police are still trying to trace him.

Nadia died in a hospital on May 30, fifteen days after she consumed poison. However, social activists and others demanded a probe into her death leading to Pacheco's name being dragged into the case.

Nadia was apparently Pacheco's girlfriend. The ongoing probe has revealed certain disturbing details on Nadia's death which indicates strongly at the possibility of a murder over suicide.
