The accused in Margao blast case surrenders

Panaji, Jun 9: One among the five accused in the Margao blast case, surrendered before a sessions court in Goa on Tuesday, Jun 8.

Prashant Ashtekar, the native of Ratnagiri was accused among the Sanatan Sanstha Sadhaks, for the conspiracy to execute serial blasts in Margao.

Prashant had said before that he will be surrendering before the court at the earliest. His younger brother Dhananjay, was arrested before by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) which is probing the blast case.

The blast had killed two people, Yogesh Naik and Malgonda Patil, on the evening of October 16, 2009. Prashanth was absconding where as police had arrested the other four included in the case- Vinayak Patil, Dhananjay Ashtekar, Vinay Talekar and Dilip Mangaonkar.

Prashant said that he shifted the hard disk of the computer as the computed belonged to him. The vital information about the circuits being prepared for the blasts were contained in this computer.

“Since the computer belonged to me, I didn"t want myself to be named in the case, so I took away the hard disk," Prashant said.
