The oil spill revenue for Gulf wildlife fund: BP
Washington, Jun 9: British Petroleum (BP) declared that it will distribute any income from the oil collected from the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, to a wildlife fund for the southern coast of United States.
BP informed that the revenue of the sale will be donated into a wildlife fund to create, restore, improve and protect wildlife habitat along the coastline of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida- the four states affected by the oil spill.
BP had succeeded in placing the containment cap over the wellhead of oil spill about 1.6 kilometres below the surface. It collected around 15,000 barrels, which will only be half of the oil streaming into the ocean.
The efforts to constrain the spill is making progress, though it will take years to clean it up.
