NGO had hinted CBI about Anderson's details

New Delhi, Jun 8: Greenpeace, the environmental NGO revealed that it had given the informations about the whereabouts of Warren Anderson to CBI. The revelation of the NGO came on Tuesday, Jun 8, a day after the Bhopal tragedy verdict came.

Warren Anderson, the then CEO of Union Carbide Corporation was declared as an absconder in the Bhopal gas tragedy case. Bhopal sessions court did not mention his name during the verdict on Monday, Jun 7.

Nirmala Karunan, the public relation officer of Greenpeace said that an unknown person called them and told about the whereabouts of Anderson, during a photo exhibition in 2002, in America.

"On the basis of the information we had gone to his (Anderson) residence but his wife told us that he was not at home. Later we saw Anderson escaping from the back door of his house," Nirmala said.

Nirmala said that she had shared this information with the US and Indian courts and CBI.

"All the information regarding the incident has been explained in detail on our website also," Nirmala said.

Veerappa Moily, the Law Minister said that Anderson could be extradited and CBI has the power to pursue the case.
