Bhopal gas tragedy: Verdict on Jun 7
Bhopal, Jun 7: The much awaited verdict of Bhopal gas tragedy is expected to come on Mon, Jun 7, by a local court.
The Bhopal sessions court will pass the verdict against the company, Union Carbide and the other respondents, after long 26 years.
The tragedy happened on the night between Dec 2 and 3, 1984, when the UCIL (Union Carbide India Ltd) plant in Bhopal released the highly volatile toxic chemical called Methyl Isocyanate, stored at the pesticide plant owned by the company.
15,000 people died in the tragedy and atleast five lakh others got inflicted by grievous injuries. Millions were left sick and the affected passed on the harmful effects of the gas to the next generations.
People, who await the justice for more than 26 years, hope that the verdict will punish those who are accountable for the world's worst industrial disaster.
