B'lore: Stuntman murders wife in front of kids

Bangalore, Jun 7: A stuntman working with the Kannada film industry brutally murdered his wife right in front of his young children on Sunday, Jun 6.

Shiv Kumar killed his 31-year-old wife by smashing her head with a stone on the suspicion that she was having an extra-marital affair. Shobha, who was married to Kumar 18 years ago, bled to death.

The most disturbing detail of the crime is the fact that the Shiv Kumar and Shibha's children - a Hari Vignesh (14) and Sonia Lady (9) - witnessed their father murdering their mother.

Kumar, who took the children to his mother after committing the murder, also confessed to her, reported Mid-Day.

From Shobha"s mother, Shakuntala, the police has learnt that Shiv Kumar was not doing well professionally and was an alcoholic. This added to the financial problems, which in turn made the sitution at home worse, reported another newspaper.

Deputy commissioner of police HS Revanna told DNA that the couple quarrelled frequently and Sunday, Jun 7 fight ended with the murder.

“Last night, he had a heated argument with his wife, following which he rushed out of the house, picked up a boulder, and smashed her head with it. He then ran into hiding on realising what he did," Revanna said is quoted as saying.

After a several hours of search operations, the police managed to nab Shiv Kumar on Monday, Jun 7.
