Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shooting: Farmer held

Bangalore, Jun 5: A week after an apparent assassination bid to kill religious guru Sri Sri Ravi Shakar raised a storm, the Bangalore police has detained one suspect in connection with the case.

The suspect has been identified as Dr Mahadevaprasad, a farmer who lives near the Art of Living ashram in Kanakapura.

He reportedly fired three shots to scare away wild dogs from attacking his cattle. One of the bullets accidentally landed in the ashram closely missing the guru and injuring one of his followers.

On May 30 evening, the farmer, who heard some barking, took out his revolver and fired in the air. This was a routine and a normal practice for the suspect.

As per reports, one of the bullets which was on its downward trajectory injured a follower of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, identified as, Vinay K, who was hit in his thigh.
