Questioned on friend's death, Goa min goes missing
Panaji, Jun 5: A day after being questioned over a death of a woman, Goa tourism minister Fransisco Pacheco decided to submit his resignation and go absconding.
Pacheco was on Friday, Jun 4 questioned by the Crime Branch in connection with the death of a 28-year-old female friend.
The minister was scheduled to appear before the sleuths even on Saturday, Jun 5. But he is untraceable, said the Goa police.
All police stations have been alerts and a hunt has been launched for the minister.
The deceased woman has been identified as Nadia Torreado. She died at a Chennai hospital on Sunday, May 30, fifteen days after consuming rat poison. Torreado is believed to be third partner of Pacheco.
While initially the death was heading towards being construed as suicide, women activists raised a cry over it and demanded probe into the matter.
