Indian origin gubernatorial candidate Haley says will resign if affairs are proved
Washington, June 5 (ANI): Indian origin South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley has vowed to resign if either of the two men who say they've had an affair with her is ever able to prove it.
Both blogger Will Folks and lobbyist Larry Marchant have claimed in the last fortnight that they had sex with Haley while she was married.
However, according to Politico, neither has been able to present any definitive proof of such a relationship.
Haley, the only woman in the race, has denied having a sexual relationship with either man and told Columbia's WVOC said she would resign if either man is able to present proof.
The radio host asked Haley, a Sikh by birth: "If something comes out after you win the primary, or after you win the general election [to] become South Carolina's next governor, if something were to come out that validates the claims that have been made against you - in terms of stepping out on your husband and on your marriage - would you resign as governor because basically the way you've handled it has been an absolute, 100 percent denial?" she said: "Yes".
Haley was raised in a Sikh family but identifies herself as a Christian. Nikki was born Nimrata Randhawa in Bamberg, South Carolina.
Her parents, Dr. Ajit and Raj Randhawa, are Indian Punjabi Sikh immigrants from Amritsar. She has an older brother Mitti, sister Simran Singh, and younger brother Charan.
She went to Clemson University and majored in accounting and then joined the FCR Corporation before joining her mother's business, Exotica International, in 1994.
She married Michael Haley, a federal employee with the United States Department of the Army and an officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard, in 1996.
They have two children, Rena and Nalin. (ANI)
