WB civic poll results: Mamata leads semi-final
Kolkata, Jun 2: TMC leads 95 out of 141 municipal bodies in Kolkata civic poll, while the counting is underway. Left could win 33, Congress 10 and others, 3. In overall Bengal results, Left won 17 seats, TMC 30 and Congress 8. CPM and TMC fought neck and neck in the Bengal battle, when Trinamool won Kolkata. The scores in Salt Lake is 9 for Left , 16 for TMC and zero for congress and others.
Mamata Banerjee had said that she is 'confident' about her party's victory in the civic polls.
The polls were held in 81 civic bodies and in 141 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, containing the constituency of 85 lakh. The poll is seen as a semi-final before the 2011 Assembly elections.
TMC did not expect such a won in spite of the Left inclination in the 2008 panchayat polls.
