Lahore, June 1: At least 12 people were killed and several others injured when a group of militants stormed the Jinnah hospital in Lahore city on Monday, 31 May. The militants were trying to free one of their men who was captured and admitted for an injury in the hospital.
The attack happened just before midnight. Militants entered in the hospital and started fired indiscriminately, Police said. Javed Akram, Chief executive of the hospital and another six people were killed and many others injured.
"There was indiscriminate firing by the terrorists. They were trying to free the injured terrorist who was captured last week and was being treated in the hospital," Akram told the media on phone from inside the hospital.
Reports said about 800 to 900 patients were in the hospital and the attack created panic among patients, their attendants and doctors.
