New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): Inspired by the World No Tobacco Day, an 86-year-old man successfully said goodbye to 60 years of smoking.

Zhou Longfa from Taiwan took part in a quit smoking competition to help his son build a new house.

And the old man won a 300 thousand yuan bonus after he quit the bad habit for more than a month.

"I'm happy to win, I want to thank my son for his encouragement. I won't smoke any more despite the competition being over," said Zhou Longfa, winner of the competition.

A doctor repeatedly checked nicotine levels to ensure Zhou really quit.

Selected from more than 25 thousand participants, Zhou took great efforts in quitting after 60 years of lighting up, reports English.news.cn.

"He has been smoking for more than 60 years, but when he found out that quitting could gain him 300 thousand yuan, he decided to take part. He knew I needed that money to build a new house," said Longfa's son.

After winning, Zhou suffered an ulcer on his way to Taipei to receive the bonus.

He dedicated his accomplishment to his family and the family union. (ANI)
