Premier Jiabao lashes out at any acts preventing stability in the Korean Peninsula
New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has strongly lashed out at any action that would threaten the Korean Peninsula.
Wen Jiabao made the remarks during a visit to Seoul.
"China objects to and condemns any act that damages the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula," Xinhua News Agency quoted Wen as having told President of the South Korea, Lee Myung-bak, during talks about the South Korean warship Cheonan that sank in March.
This is especially significant for South Korea, which is asking for the UN Security Council to "punish Pyongyang" for the sinking of its vessel and needs the support of veto-empowered China to do the same.
Pak Rim-su, head of the Policy Bureau of North Korea's National Defense Commission (NDC) has alleged that the investigation is coloured by the biases of those conducting it and that those who expressed a difference of opinion on the matter of North Korea's culpability, were ousted from the team.
Meanwhile. China has not responded to South Korea's request to send a team of experts to inspect the evidence against North Korea put together by it, Russia has, on the other hand consented to send a team. (ANI)
