Couple stoned to death in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad,May 27: A couple was stoned to death in Andhra pradesh, for having surpassed and married, on Wednesday May 26 night.

Sunkara Srinivas, 32 and Swapna Reddy, 22 were the deceased. Srinivas belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Swapna belonged to an upper caste. They had eloped and married six months ago.

Srinivas was already married and had two kids from his first wife. Swapna's relatives were against this alliance as he also belonged to a lower caste.

The couple lived in Hyderabad as Sunkara was working as a computer operator in a private firm.

They returned to the village a couple of days ago when Srinivas was called by Swapna's relatives under the pretext of discussing some issues. They started thrashing Srinivas after some arguement. Swapna tried to protect him and then they attacked her as well.

There were 30 attackers who tied both to a pole and stoned them to death.

The incident happened in Nizamabad district of Andhrapradesh, where the furious residents of Krishnajivadi village showered stones on the couple after knotting them to a pole.

Police has registered the case and arrested three involved in the murder.
