Mumbai, May 26 (ANI): The Air India on Wednesday morning moved the Bombay High Court against the flash strike by its employees.

Air India decided to act tough against its staff as their strike entered the second day.

"We filed the petition around 1 pm today. Tomorrow is a holiday, so day after tomorrow it will be kept for service. (Reporter: What is your prayer?) The prayer is that the strike is absolutely illegal causing a loss of lakhs (millions) of rupees to Air India. Thousands of passengers are also suffering. That is why, the strike should be stopped," said V.N Kini, Counsel for Air India.

The airline had threatened to sack employees who do not return to work by Wednesday.

About 14,000 crewmembers and maintenance engineers of Air India across the country went on a flash strike on Tuesday (May 25).

The employees were on strike against the gag order issued after the air crash at Mangalore on Saturday (May 22) as also non-payment of salaries.

On Wednesday evening, however, coming under pressure following Delhi High Court orders staying the Air India employees' strike, the strikers called off their agitation after holding a meet with the Air India management.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court had observed that the strike had affected the business and stayed the strike by Air India employees till July 13.

The proposed May 31 strike has also been stayed. (ANI)
