Rajdhani Express derails in Bihar, no casualty

Naugachia, May 25: The New Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani Express derailed in Bihar, between Kharik and Naugachia railway stations on Tuesday, May 25 morning.

The derailment happened after the driver of the train reportedly heard a loud explosion on the tracks and applied emergency brakes, leading to the derailment. Around 14 coaches derailed, but no casualities have been reported yet. Some of the passengers have bruises.

The derailment took place at village Amba round 6:30 am while the train was on the way to Guwahati from New Delhi, said Dilip Kumar, the East Central Railway spokesperson.

The exact cause of the incident is still to be ascertained, said the CPRO. No Maoist link has been established yet.

Indian Railway has made special arrangements for helping the passengers for onward journey. Railways have set up helpline numbers in Delhi. The New Delhi helpline numbers are 011-23341074 and 23341072. The Old Delhi helpline numbers are 011-23967332 and 23962389.
