Pak commanders wants to extend tenure for Kayani
Islamabad, May 24: Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the Chief of Pak Army Commanders will remain in his post till the ongoing war against terrorism takes a decisive turn and the military's achievements can be consolidated. The consensus was taken by Pak Army's top Commanders during the Corps Commanders and Formation Commanders' Conference, last week.
Kayani is set to retire on Nov 28, 2010. There were speculations on whether the government led by the Pakistani People's Party(PPP) will grant him an extension.
The sources said that either Kayani or PM Yousaf Raza Gilani have not mentioned about their intensions to extend the tenure.
Gilani had recently said that his government will take a decision in this matter, when the time comes.
The senior commanders in the Army also appreciated Kayani for the role taken by him to enhancing the image of the armed forces since he took over the post, 29 months ago.
