Markets end in red despite recovery
Mumbai May21: At 15.33 hrs the benchmark index Nifty ended on a flat note after a gap down opening of 100 points the BSE Sensex was down 85.36 points or 0.52% at 16434.32, and the Nifty down 16.45 points or 0.33% at 4931.15.
Auto and FMCG stocks attracted some buying in today's trade. Realty, power, pharma and capital goods witness selling pressure. The broader markets underperformed largecaps in recovery.
BSE Midcap and Smallcap index lost 1.3% and 1.5% respectively.
In the largecap space, ITC, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel, ACC and Gail were up 1.7-3.4%. NTPC, Hindalco, Grasim, HUL, Tata Power and Idea Cellular were down 2-4%.

Sensex still down, Mkts southbound
Bombay, May 21:At 14.30 hrs, the BSE Sensex was 16,397.94, down 121.74 points; NSE Nifty was 4920.25, down 27.35 points.
All the BSE sectoral indices continued the downward journey. Realty, capital goods, power, metal and FMCG stocks witnessed heavy selling.
The largecaps like Infosys, ICICI Bank, L&T, HDFC all dipped down. The top losers on the Sensex include Hindalco, down by 3.29 percent, Wipro, down 2.64 percent, and ONGC down by 2.7 percent.
M&M surged by 1.82 percent, Cipla by 0.88 percent and Bharti Airtel, 0.71 percent.
Top losers among broader indices are Sun Pharma Adv, Shree Cements, Phoenix Mills and Guj NRE Coke, down by 5 to 10 percent.

Stock market plunges; realty, metal,power in dip
At 12:40 hrs, BSE Sensex was at 16,412.43, down 107.25 points; NSE Nifty was 4929.40, down 18.20 points. Nifty dipped almost 50 points from the intraday low.
About 619 shares advanced, 2272 declined and 404 shares were unchanged.
Broader indices nosedived too. It was a blood bath situation for both BSE Midcaps and Smallcaps, as their index were also
down close to 2 percent each.
In the largecap space, Jaiprakash Associates, ACC, Bharti Airtel, Mah and Mah and Cipla were up 0.5 to 2 percent. Hindalco, Tata Motors, Sterlite Industries, Wipro and NTPC were down 3 to 3.6 percent.

Mkts open in red; realty, banks suffer selling
The benchmark indices opened in red with close to 1.5 percent dip, at 9 AM. By 9:40 hrs, BSE Sensex was 16,299.30 down 220.38 points; NSE Nifty was 4877.55 down 70.05 points.
About 821 shares advanced, 2037 shares declined and 437 remained unchanged.
In realty, banks, metal and auto stocks, heavy selling was seen. All BSE sectoral indices were trading in red. BSE Midcap and Smallcap index were down more than 2 percent each.
Only GAIL and ITC were trading in green. Reliance was trading 2.19 percent at 978.00. Reliance was trading at Rs 978.00 down 2.19 percent from its previous close of Rs 999.90. Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,588.00 down 0.48 percent from its previous close of Rs 2,600.40. Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 342.05 down 1.53 percent from its previous close of Rs 347.35.
