Lucknow HC dismisses CBI plea on Babri Masjid

Lucknow,May20: Lucknow high court has dismissed the plea of CBI of reopening the cases in the High Court against 21 BJP leaders who were convicted in the 1992 Babri Masjid Demolition Case. The HC refused the CBI plea on the grounds of the case already being executed in the lower court.

In the reply the HC said that as the cases are already underway in the lower courts there is no need to reopen the cases on a fresh note in HC. The court also said that the convicts cannot be charged with fresh charges till the existing charges proves on them.

Earlier, CBI had filed a petition in the HC demanding a fresh trial in the case against the BJP leaders but got a blow when HC refused to hear it in the high court.

The CBI demanded this on the basis of trial not being executed properly in the lower court but got a lukewarm response from the court.
