Nithyananda case: Assistance of US devotees sought

Bangalore, May 19: The Karnataka Criminal Investigative Department (CID), investigating into the sensational sex scandal of Swami Nithyananda, has reportedly issued notices to two US citizens seeking their assistance.

Quoting sources in the CID, a newspaper, Deccan Chronicle reported on Tuesday, May 18, two American devotees of the controversial godman were traced by the investigative agency through their e-mail ids and have been issued notices.

The duo have agreed to co-operate with the CID. However, no specific date has been fixed for their return to India, the newspaper stated.

The Americans had reportedly stayed at Nithyananda's ashram in Bidadi.

CID is planning on updating the list of notices issued to US nationals in their statement of objections to Nithyananda Swami"s bail plea.

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday, May 18 adjourned hearing on Nithyananda's bail petition to May 26 after the petitioner's council sough more time.
