Maoists have total disregard for human life, says G K Pillai
New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): Union Home Secretary G K Pillai on Monday condemned the worst ever attack on civilians by the Maoists that has killed 30 passengers traveling in a private bus in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada District.
Addressing the media in the national capital, Pillai said the Naxals have total disregard for human life.
"We strongly he attack on civilians by the Maoists. They have totally disregarded for human life," Pillai said.
"The civilians were innocent and unarmed. The killing of such civilians has been the Maoists agenda," he added.
Pillai informed that seven people have been admitted to the hospital.
"As per the information seven people were seriously injured. Their condition is critical," he added.
Pillai expressed hope that injured would fully recover after proper medical attention.
Saying no one has given license to Maoists to kill people, Pillai claimed the Home Ministry's strategy has been "effective against Naxalites."
Pillai, meanwhile, expressed shock over the silence of civilian right groups and NGOs over the incident.
He informed that 15 to 20 SPOs were on board and were going to participate in a recruitment drive.
Two SPOs and four civilians were admitted to Sukma Hospital.
The sources in the ministry, however, are still not clear that why the SPOs were traveling in a bunch and in uniform. (ANI)
