India, US working on Headley access

New Delhi, May 15: India and US will work towards the process to gain access to David Coleman Headley, convicted for his role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, and the issue will be raised in the India-US Strategic Dialogue in Washington in Jun 2010.

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna will be travelling to Washington on Jun 3 for the first India-US Strategic Dialogue with his US counterpart Hillary Clinton.

Official sources said that issue of access to Headley will figure in their discussion.

"They are saying yes to access to Headley. But the process has to be followed. Their process is totally different from our process. Process has to be gone through before we get access. That is our understanding," the sources said.

India has been seeking direct access to Headley ever since he has pleaded guilty to his role in the Mumbai terror attacks in Feb 2010.
