Woman, lover held for plotting husband's murder

New Delhi, May 15: A woman and her lover were arrested after the Delhi police figured out that a chain snatching incident that they were investigating into was a criminal plot tailored by the two to kill the woman's husband.

24-year-old Reena and 21-year-old Satish Kumar Chauhan have been arrested for 'stage managing' a snatching incident.

The chain snatching incident tokk place on May 7 when two motorcycle-borne men stabbed Reena's husband Om Prakash when he tried to stop them from robbing his wife's gold chain.

The police, however, detected something fishy when they paid attention to the number of stab wounds on Om Prakash as against the wounds recieved by Reena. Besides this, Reena's habit of chatting with her paramour at odd hours also formed a lead for the police to probe more into the incident.

"The number of stab injuries sustained by the victim indicated that the robbery alone may not be the motive for this crime. We also noticed contradictions in the statement of Reena," a senior police official said on Friday, May 14.

Reena and Satish lived in the same neighbourhood and their affair gre over the past months after which they even got married in Nov 2009. To remove Om Praksh from their way to a happily ever after, they hatched a plot to kill him.
