Ex-Vice Prez Bhairon Singh Shekhawat no more
Jaipur, May 15: Former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat passed away on Saturday, May 15 here after putting up a stiff battle against his illness.
87-year-old Shekhawat was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, May 13 night after he complained of uneasiness and experienced trouble in breathing.
Few hours ago, the leader's health condition deteriorated as his lung and chest infection aggravated further.
Shekhawat was the 11th vice president of India. He served the post from 2002 to 2007. He resigned on Jul 21, 2007 after he lost the presidential race to Pratibha Patil.
Shekhawat belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was a leading member of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The BJP leader also served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan thrice (1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992, and 1993 to 1998).
