Indian on interpol list, imprisoned in US

Chicago, May 13: An Indian man, Anis Gulamras Vohora, who was on the Interpol list is arrested in United States.

Anis, who was wanted for smuggling cigarettes in UK, got arrested at O'Hare International Airport, while boarding a flight to India. He was detained by the officials of Chicago Customs and Border Protection.

The 39-year-old man was in the 'Interpol lookout' list. He is facing the four-year sentence for smuggling cigarettes. He was accused of seizing around one million illicit cigarettes and 35 pounds of tobacco, in Aug 2006. He had also failed to appear for the trial.

CBP handed him over to the US Marshal's Service on Monday for the extradition to UK.
