Kasab hanging by the end of 2010: Pillai
New Delhi, May 11: Home Secretary GK Pillai has said that the execution of Ajmal Amir Kasab, convict in 26/11 case, could take place by the end of this year if there is no legal hassles.
"If there is no petition from him (Kasab) challenging the sessions court verdict in the higher court... he can be hanged by the year-end," Pillai said in his interview with CNN IBN.
Kasab has been awarded death penalty by the Mumbai special court on May 6 after holding him guilty for mass murder and waging war against India.
Asked to comment on the mercy petition of Afsal Guru, Pillai said, "It is with the government for consideration."
