Aware of different views on caste-based census: PM
New Delhi, May 7: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh managed to appease the Opposition members over caste-based census by assuring that he is aware of the different views of the members of Parliament and his government would take a decision on the matter soon.
Making a brief statement in the Lok Sabha on Friday, May 7, the Prime Minister, said “I am aware of the views of the members of Parliament belonging to all sections. I assure you that the Cabinet will take a decision shortly."
This statement from Dr Singh seemed to calm the Opposition members.
Earlier, the Opposition has forced adjournment of the house over the issue after Home Minister P Chidambaram ruled out inclusion of caste in Census 2010.
