BJP demonstrates against water shortage
New Delhi, May 6 (ANI): Activists and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a demonstration here on Thursday, to express their ire against water shortage in New Delhi.
Scores of BJP activists' led by Delhi-unit President Vijay Jolly held earthen pots, banners, placards, and raised slogans against the state government while walking towards the Delhi Secretariat.
"We have come here to wake the head of Delhi Jal Board and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. There is forty percent water leakage in Delhi, CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report has given adverse comments on Delhi Jal Board, but still Sheila Dikshit is sitting quietly," said Jolly.
"Thus, this is a symbolic protest; there is no question of numbers here. This is a protest against the Delhi Government for not able to provide drinking water to residents of the city," he added.
The BJP has been criticizing Delhi Government for its alleged failure to provide adequate drinking water to millions of its residents.
The BJP has been staging demonstrations since many days, and has said that acute water shortage in the city has forced them to take to the streets. (ANI)
