Motormen strike: Mumbai offices to shut early

Mumbai, May 3: The state government has requested the offices to close early to prevent any incovenience to commuters during the rush hour in the wake of hunger strike called by motormen of both Central and Western railway.

The private companies have been asked to shut down by 3 pm, while banks and public sector offices have been asked to close down by 4 pm. The government offices are to close by 5 pm.

The motormen have called for a hunger strike earlier in the day to press for their demands for better pay.

Railway officials said that trains in both the routes were running as per schedule.

Buses have been put on standby at all major stations by the government to help commuters reach home.

Hundreds of policemen have been positioned at train stations to avoid chaos and to guide commuters.
