KMC Polls: Cong-Trinamool to contest separately
Kolkata, May 1: Failing to reach a consensus over the seat-sharing formula, Congress and Trinamool Congress have decided to contest separately in the upcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections.
The Indian National Congress (INC) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are allies at the centre.
But the parties failed to formulate seat sharing as TMC refused to give Congress more than 25 seats while Congress was demanding for 51.
The Congress on Saturday, May 1 released list of 88 candiadates contesting in the polls.
The election is scheduled to take place on May 30.
Besides TMC and Congress, CPI-M will also be fighting it out in the polls to regain hold on the once communist bastion.
