'Imminent' terror attacks in Delhi: US

New Delhi/Washington, May 1: In an updation of the Apr 21 Warden Message, the Embassy of the United States in New Delhi has warned its citizens of 'imminent' terror attacks in the national capital.

"There are increased indications that terrorists are planning imminent attacks in New Delhi. Terrorists have targeted places in the past where US citizens or Westerners are known to congregate or visit. Markets, such as those located in Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli, and Sarojini Nagar, can be especially attractive targets for terrorist groups," the security update issued on May 1 said.

Observing that westerners would be the prime targets, US has advised Americans traveling or residing in India to maintain a high level of vigilance, remain aware of their surroundings, monitor local news reports, and take appropriate steps towards personal security.

Even in the Warden Message issued on Apr 21, US Embassy in New Delhi alerted Americans in India of potential terror strike at places where US citizens or westerner tourists are known to visit.

The previous security advisory also named markets places located in Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli, and Sarojini Nagar, as "especially attractive targets for terrorist groups".
