PC, 33 MPs meet to discuss Naxal issue

New Delhi, Apr 30: Home Minister P Chidambaram will meet MPs of 33 Naxal-hit districts to briefed them about the national strategy to tackle Maoists menace and to ask for their cooperation in the operation.

The Home Minister is likely to discuss about the obstacles in the implementation of various developmental plans in the districts infested by the Maoists.

According to the report by a Planning Commission task force, the development plans in the Naxal-affected areas have been the slowest since the Dantewada massacre.

The report also found that the claims for the land allocated under the forest rights act have not been given in Dantewada.

Only 35 percent of the funds for the development for roads and only 16 per cent of the healthcare money had been used.

The Center is planning to improve connectivity in these regions which has posed a major problem to security forces during anti-Naxal operations.
