Maoist shutdown leaves West Midnapore residents helpless

West Midnapore (West Bengal), Apr 29(ANI):A Maoists shutdown in West Bengal's West Midnapore District is causing inconvenience to locals.

The Maoist-backed People's Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) has ordered the shutdown to protest against ongoing police action against the rebels.

Transport services have stopped, while shops and banks have remained closed.

"Common people are facing many problems because of this strike. Without any transport, we can't move. Like today, I had to visit Khalsiuli village but I couldn't go there because no bus is running," said Chinmoy Chakraborty, a local.

The Maoists have also blown up a railway track near Midnapore town, disrupting rail services in the region.

Train services in the Kharagpur division too have been affected by the shutdown. (ANI)
