ICICI ranked 45th most valuable brand in world
Chicago, Apr 29: ICICI became the first Indian company to enter the BrandZ Top 100 by grabbing the 45th rank among the 100 most valuable brands in the world for the year 2010.
In the fifth annual Millward Brown Optimor BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2010 list, ICICI, with a brand value of 14.5 billion dollars, has been hailed for introducing retail banking to India.
"ICICI is the bank that introduced retail banking to India and stands to profit from the country's continuing growth," it said.
India's leading private sector lender has also been given credit for flattening the society's hierarchical structure, besides pioneering ATMs in the country.
Internet giant Google, with a total worth of 114 billion dollars, topped the BrandZ Top 100 list for the year.
Outside the Top 100 list, yet another Indian company made its debut. The IT giant Infosys featured on the Millward's 'technology category' by grabbing the 18th rank out of the top 20.
"Originator of the term 'the flat world', Infosys is India's most valuable technology brand and with a brand value of $6.4 billion, is a strong contender to enter the Top 100 ranking soon," it said.
