Finance Bill passed in Lok Sabha
New Delhi, Apr 29: The Finance Bill 2010-11 was tabled and passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Apr 29 amid protests from the Opposition led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Pranab Mukherjee announced fresh debt relief packages to the coffee growers. Besides this, the Finance Minister announced tax concessions for hospitals with at least 100 beds, service tax on domestic air travel at maximum of Rs 100 per ticket and service tax exemption for the flights to and from North East.
Angered that there was no roll back of levies imposed on petrol and diesel in the Union Budget 2010-2011, the Opposition staged a walk out.
The opposition has been demanding the roll back on petroleum products as well as the withdrawal of the proposal to levy service tax on residential complexes having more than dozen units.
